What Happened on Pentecost Sunday?

POSTED: June 5th, 2009 BY:

Pentecost Sunday does not enjoy the same amount of international emphasis and awareness that Easter does, but it should. What Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection purchased, the Day of Pentecost provided. The cross made it possible for us to have a personal relationship with God. No more living for God vicariously through a priest and offering a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus was our sacrifice. He gave us direct access to God. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost showed us how deep and rich that relationship with God can be. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is such a life-changing and enriching experience that even “the angels desire to look into it” (1Peter 1:12).

Without doubt, the angels were rejoicing on Pentecost Sunday 2009! I had the privilege of speaking twice and in two different cities. Though it was a little taxing on the body, I was energized by the Spirit! When I preached Sunday morning in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, for Pastor Robert Linder, I rejoiced as I saw many seekers filling the altars with hearts open and tears streaming down their cheeks.

On Sunday evening at First Church of Nashville, host Pastor Ron Becton along with Pastor Kurtis Burton, Pastor Tim Zuniga, and their congregations joined together in a united effort for a regional Pentecost Sunday celebration. The mass choir sang with anointing and excellence as the anticipation and excitement built in the auditorium full of believers and seekers. What a sight it was to watch seekers of all ages and walks of life fill the altar. Wave after wave of the Holy Spirit was poured out for over forty-five minutes. Though we could not count everyone, we verified at least thirteen filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time.

Thank you for helping us to reap the harvest through your prayers for us!
